Antique gold brooch made of Zeeland buttons. Zeeland buttons are an important part of the Zeeland traditional costume. Men often wore the buttons as throat studs (on the collar) and women, for example, as a bonnet bell. They were made of bronze, silver, and gold. The larger the button, the wealthier the wearer. Fun fact: Before it was truly part of the traditional costume, the button was already worn. It even dates back to the time of Michiel de Ruyter (late 17th century)! The brooch is detailed on the back with a filigree technique. A beautiful antique piece of jewelry. The piece is made of 14-karat yellow gold (585/1000).
