Breitling Navitimer 1806 'Iraqi Air Force'; Vintage Watch

This is cool! This vintage Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic with reference number 1806 is not only a 'must-have for collectors,' but especially a pilot's watch from the 70s made for the IAF 'Iraqi Air Force.' It was (and is) a watch built for serious work, super rare in this version with the IAF logo on the back and the distinctive logo on the dial. This is a 'late' variant from around 1977 with the newer Cal. 12 microrotor movement.

This watch is also in an incredible vintage condition! Sharp lines, beautiful patina, a well-functioning bezel and 'slide ruler' that is still impressively sharp/tight. Of course, it has some regular signs on the case and a small imperfection/scratch on the dial (centrally below the hands, hard to see). Overall, a truly amazing and beautiful watch, especially for a vintage piece that's 50 years old.

This analog instrument was mostly supplied to pilots and air forces in the 70s, even before the existence of digital instruments in aircraft. The integrated 'slide ruler' (mechanical calculating rule) made it possible to quickly calculate fuel, ascent/descent timing, flight duration, and other flight calculations during flights.

This was a huge watch for its time at about 48mm, clearly more of an instrument than a daily watch. By the way, thanks to the short 'lugs' it wears excellently, even on narrower wrists. I immediately fell in love with this watch and enjoy wearing it on my 18cm wrists.

The Valjoux cal. 12 'microrotor' automatic movement is signed on the bridge with 'Breitling watch ltd.' and runs smoothly and accurately. The movement winds easily, and the chronograph and date functions work correctly.

For aesthetics, we replaced the black strap with a beautifully matching high-quality handmade brown leather strap. A great combination, and the worn black leather strap is included as well.
