Beautiful and rare Breitling Navitimer Chrono-Matic 1806. Not only a collector's must-have with a wonderful history, but above all a pilot's watch from the early 70s—according to the included paperwork, May 10, 1972, to be precise. This analog measuring instrument was often supplied to pilots and air forces in the 60s and 70s, even before the existence of digital measuring instruments in aircraft. The integrated "slide ruler" (or mechanical slide rule) allowed for quick calculations of fuel, climb/descent timing, flight duration, and other flight times during flights. Excellent vintage, in original and certainly worn condition. The aluminum bezel, which should be black, is slightly discolored and has been tarnished (a common phenomenon) and is fixed (does not rotate). The caseback is still quite legible in the right light (the brand/serial number and, of course, correspond with the paperwork) but is also somewhat faded. The dial and hands are clean, neat, and original. We've adjusted the price based on the condition and scope of delivery. This was a huge watch for its time, measuring approximately 48mm, and clearly more of an instrument than an everyday timepiece. Moreover, the short lugs make it exceptionally wearable, even on smaller wrists. The Valjoux cal. 11 "microrotor" automatic movement is signed on the bridge with "Breitling watch ltd." and runs perfectly. It winds smoothly, and the chronograph function works properly. The amplitude and accuracy of this watch are excellent, meeting current strict COSC standards. This movement is known for being very robust and easy to use, and parts are readily available, as well as specialists who can repair/maintain it. This watch came on a custom-made steel bracelet that fits perfectly and is included. For the sake of beauty, we've replaced this bracelet with a beautiful, matching new, high-quality leather strap. As mentioned, this beautiful timepiece, including the original papers and Breitling box, dates from the 1970s. A fantastic vintage classic and pure Breitling as it was once intended... But then in a rare full set with a 1-year warranty.
