Different cuts and their effects

The diamond's cut determines how the light is distributed. A brilliant cut is round and allows the light to shine through clearly. The rose cut diamond is flatter and was often used in older jewelry. The old European cut diamond falls somewhere in between and is often seen in antique brooches. Baguette diamonds are rectangular and create a more streamlined look. Single-cut diamonds are small and simply cut and are often used in clusters.

Each cut has its own unique look and suits a different style. In a brooch, cuts are sometimes combined, giving the design more depth without becoming busy.
