Description
Vintage/antique gold brooch of a bonnet bell made using the filigree technique. This is a unique piece of jewelry from the Dutch traditional costume period around 1900. The bonnet bell was attached to an undercap, which was worn on Sundays with Sunday clothes. Nowadays, almost no one wears such a bonnet anymore, but the bonnet bell is a beautifully detailed piece of jewelry. That's why they are now made into brooches, among other things. Filigree is a very refined technique in which a thin gold wire is used to create a lace-like pattern. The brooch is decorated with Zeeland knots and a tassel at the bottom. The piece is made of 14-karat yellow gold (585/1000). The brooch can be fastened with a pin at the back.
