Exclusive 18K gold necklace/bracelet by the artist Salvador Dalí, "Mujer Desnuda Subiendo la Escalera." Also known as "Naked Woman Climbing the Ladder." The necklace can be worn long or shortened; the remaining part can be worn as a bracelet. The chain is made with links that resemble long shells. It is a sturdy piece of jewelry, entirely made of solid 18-karat yellow gold (750/1000). The necklace and bracelet were designed by Salvador Dalí and are a tribute to Marcel Duchamp's painting "Nude Descending a Staircase." The painting is not original; it referenced the photographs of Eadweard Muybridge. These were photographs of moving animals, the photographs belonging to the first series. His contemporary Joan Miró made a drawing of this with pencil and charcoal during the Spanish Civil War in 1937. In the drawing, a woman with heavy limbs can be seen reaching for a ladder. The ladder represents escape/fleeing, the woman has great difficulty climbing the stairs. This work is said to be related to Naked Descending a Staircase by Marcel Duchamp. Salvador Dalí's model climbs stairs, just like Joan Miró's work; in Dalí's work, the stairs are shells that represent vast oceans, and the links are also shells.
