Rose cut diamonds are the oldest cutting style of diamonds. Unlike a brilliant cut diamond, which has a point at the bottom, a rose cut diamond does not; it is flat at the bottom. The stone is dome-shaped and faceted. The name of the rose cut diamond comes from its resemblance to the flower. Since the 18th century, the popularity of this cut has declined, with the brilliant cut becoming more favored due to its greater shine and more noticeable effect. Nevertheless, the rose cut diamond has seen a resurgence in popularity at different times.
