Top vintage! The Heuer Carrera 3647T ‘Red Tachymeter’ is one of the most characteristic vintage chronographs from the rich history of Heuer. The Carrera was developed in the sixties under the guidance of Jack Heuer and grew to become one of the iconic watches in the world, thanks to its clear dial, sporty character, and strong ties to motorsport.

This special piece dates back to the first quarter of 1965 and has reference number 3647t, where the ‘T’ refers to the distinctive tachymetric scale. The red tachymetric details form a beautiful contrast with the otherwise understated dial and give this version its recognizable nickname ‘Red Tachymeter’. It is exactly this subtle color use that distinguishes the 3647T from many other early Carrera references.

The compact 36mm vintage case, classic two-register chronograph layout, and long, elegant lugs give the watch the pure appearance that early Carreras are so beloved for today. No unnecessary details, but a design that prioritizes readability and functionality. More than half a century later, it still looks surprisingly timeless.

Interesting about this piece is the technical history. The watch was fully revised in 2026 and delivered by German master watchmaker and vintage watch specialist Marius Mang (papers available). Attention has not only been paid to the special historical appearance but also to the technical condition of the watch. The movement runs excellently and accurately, and the chronograph function operates as it should. Of course, everything is perfectly original and 'period correct'! For instance, the crown is not signed 'Heuer', which is correct and only happened starting from 1966. Small details, but they reveal the original state of this watch. The case is further very tight with beautiful lines, the dial fully original with nice patina, and the red tachymeter print is still genuinely red and sharp without being restored.

The new high-quality leather strap is beautifully finished and wears truly fantastic. This high-quality strap features a vintage Heuer pin buckle and fits wrists up to approximately 19cm. Upon request, another type/color/brand of strap can be attached.

For collectors of vintage Heuer, the Carrera holds an important place. Especially the early manual winding versions with special dial variants are becoming increasingly difficult to find in beautiful and technically well-maintained condition. The combination of the 3647t reference, Red Tachymeter version, and recent revision by a vintage specialist makes this a particularly attractive piece.
