The IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph is one of the interesting pilot watches in IWC's modern collection. An impressive combination of military-inspired design, high-end IWC finishing, and a complicated rattrapante mechanical movement. The watch has reference number IW371806 and features a sturdy 44mm stainless steel case. This IWC is equipped with the special IWC Calibre 79230 automatic movement, composed of more than 300 parts.
In addition to a regular chronograph, this caliber has a unique rattrapante (or split-seconds) complication. With this feature, two chronograph hands can start simultaneously, after which one of the hands can be stopped independently to measure an intermediate time. This hand can then catch up to the other chronograph hand. This technically complex function is among the most fascinating mechanical chronograph complications, giving the double chronograph a special character.
The combination of the recognizable Pilot's Chrono and the complicated rattrapante movement makes the IW371806 significantly more than just a sporty pilot watch. It is a technically advanced IWC for the enthusiast who specifically seeks something special within the Pilot’s Watch collection. It is no surprise that the retail price is quite high; this is not an ordinary IWC Pilot's Chronograph.
This piece comes on the original/new and comfortable IWC 'Santoni Maison' leather strap. The strap is in new condition and features an IWC pin buckle. The strap is suitable for wrists up to approximately 20cm.
This example dates from 2015, is in absolute top condition, and has been fully checked and tested. The automatic movement runs excellently and accurately, and all functions work properly.
