This vintage Omega Seamaster Quartz ref. 196.0136 is a remarkable and now rare men's watch from an interesting period of Omega. With its distinctive case shape, integrated band, and combination of 14-carat yellow gold and stainless steel, this model embodies the typical luxury-sportive look of the 1970s. Among collectors, this version is often referred to by the nickname 'Royal Oak'.
This nickname is not coincidental. In the 1970s, the design of luxury men's watches underwent significant changes. Integrated bands, angular cases, and a more architectural design became defining features of a completely new generation of sporty luxury watches. Omega was also experimenting with this style, and this Seamaster is a beautiful example of that.
The case seamlessly flows into the integrated metal band. The combination of steel with warm 14-carat yellow gold details gives the watch a pronounced vintage appearance. Both the bezel and middlelink are made of 14ct yellow gold and represent a considerable (gold) value! With a case diameter of 33mm x 40mm, the watch wears classically and stylishly.
Internally, we find the Omega Calibre 1342 quartz movement. This high-quality quartz caliber comes from a period when electronic timepieces were still one of the technical innovations of the Swiss watch industry. Omega made significant investments in the development of accurate quartz watches, and the Cal. 1342 is a fine example of this important phase in the brand's history. The battery has been replaced, the movement tested, and everything works perfectly.
The watch is in good, unpolished condition and retains its original factory finish. Even the original sticker on the caseback makes it particularly attractive to collectors who value originality.
The original Omega gold/steel band fits seamlessly to the case and is also in very good and unpolished condition without stretch. The band fits wrists up to approximately 19cm.
