The Sinn 142 St. II, better known as ‘Der Weltraumchronograph’, is one of the most iconic tool watches ever produced by the German watch brand Sinn. This model enjoys an almost legendary status among collectors due to its functional design, space history, and the famous Lemania movement with its many complications.

The robust 43mm case gives the watch a powerful presence on the wrist and underscores its origin as a professional instrument. This particular piece is in good condition and is not polished, preserving the original factory finish. A characteristic highly valued by enthusiasts of original tool watches.

Inside is the high-quality Lemania Caliber 5100, one of the most beloved chronograph movements ever produced. This reliable and extremely robust automatic movement is complemented by a Dubois-Dépraz 2070 module, which equips the watch with practical complications such as a GMT function and date display. The movement is fortunately running very well and accurately, which is quite pleasant for more complex space travels.

The Sinn 142 series gained international fame as comparable models were actually used during space flights, justifying the nickname Der Weltraumchronograph. The result is a watch built as an instrument, but is now seen as an important collectible in the world of vintage sports and pilot's watches.

The original Sinn steel bracelet (this is the only version worldwide currently offered with a steel bracelet!) is also in good condition and fits wrists up to approximately 18cm. Fortunately, we see a 2cm dive extension in the clasp, allowing it to be comfortably worn on larger wrist sizes. We can also provide a leather strap.
