Vintage gold brooch designed with Zeeland buttons. The brooch has an additional decorative chain and is completely framed with small Zeeland buttons. The piece fastens with a beret with a ball hook. The piece is made of 14-karat yellow gold (585/1000). Zeeland buttons are an important part of Zeeland traditional costume. Men often wore the buttons as throat studs (on the collar) and women as, for example, a bonnet bell. They were made of bronze, silver, and gold. The larger the button, the wealthier the wearer.
