Vintage gold pendant with garnet stones. The large garnets have a deep red color. The pendant is beautifully detailed. An Amsterdam hallmark is stamped on the eyelet. The pendant is made of 14-karat yellow gold (585/1000). Garnet: Garnets are often thought to be red, but this is simply not true. They can also be purple, orange, yellow, green, brown, black, or colorless. Garnet is found worldwide, for example, in India, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Tanzania. The Vikings gave garnet as a grave gift, believing it would light the way to Valhalla for the dead. Crusader armor was also adorned with garnet stones in the past, believing they would be protected and thus safe.
