A watch can only be called a chronometer if it has passed an independent test. The movement is tested over several days under various conditions, such as fluctuating temperatures and different positions of the watch. During these tests, the daily deviation is measured.
Only movements that remain within very strict tolerances receive the certificate. In practice, this means that the watch runs with exceptional precision. Not perfect to the second, but demonstrably better than average.
What should a chronometer meet?
With mechanical watches, the permitted deviation is within a small bandwidth per day. The movement is tested without a case, so that only the technology is really assessed. Only after passing the test can the watch officially be called Certified Chronometer.
For the wearer, this primarily means security. You know that the watch has been checked and performs reliably. At Juweelwinkel you will find exclusively pre-owned watches with this certification in this category. Each watch is unique and available only once. All watches are shipped insured and come with a 12-month warranty and a 14-day return period. Also view other watches or discover more brands.
